This question is put to me on a regular basis. The simplest answer is to give me the details: the face value of the note, the serial number and the name of the Cashier if it is a Bank of England note. Some idea of the quality (grade) is also a big help. A simple way to assess the grade is to hold a note at an angle of forty five degrees to the light. This will show up any obvious creases, folds and nicks as well as staining. I have intense magnification at home but this piece of kit is rare and just for collectors and dealers. I am always willing to help, to advise, to value, and where possible, to make an offer for notes. I am but a phone call or an email away.
